Official municipal pickup timing for Buckeye
Arizona residential routes operate weekly (Mon-Fri) depending on your neighborhood zone. Some municipalities shift to earlier collection hours during extreme summer heat.

Ensure trash is bagged to prevent debris from scattering during high desert winds.
Black/Green Bin (Trash)
Place your container on the street the night before your collection day. Wheels must be adjacent to the curb. Keep the trash cart at least 3 feet apart from your recycle cart and clear of any fixed objects like mailboxes.

Blue Bin (Recycling)

Buckeye does not have a separate weekly yard waste cart. Small debris must be bagged and placed inside your regular trash cart. Large branches and thorny vegetation must be boxed or bundled and handled via your scheduled bulk trash pickup.

Frequency
Up to 4 self-scheduled pickups per year per residential account.
Placement
Place your items out the day before your scheduled collection. Crews will not return to an area once it is completed. Ensure piles are safely away from vehicles and utility boxes.

The first four scheduled pickups are free. If you require a 5th pickup within a year, you must contact Republic Services directly at (602) 605-4009 and pay a $195.00 fee.
Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a major observed holiday falls on a weekday, there is no service on that day. Collection for the holiday and the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day (e.g., Thursday service moves to Friday, Friday to Saturday).
Yard Waste Exception
Because bulk trash and household hazardous waste pickups are appointment-based, they are simply blocked off from being scheduled on major city holidays.

Keep it Loose and Un-Bagged
Never place your recyclables inside plastic garbage bags. The sorting facility's machinery cannot process plastic bags or film, and perfectly good recyclables hidden inside bags will be sent straight to the landfill.
Ditch the Shredded Paper
While standard paper and cardboard are highly encouraged, small pieces of shredded paper are not accepted in the blue bins. The tiny shreds fall through the conveyor belts at the recycling plant and contaminate other materials.
Safely Box Your Desert Thorns
When scheduling a bulk pickup for yard waste, any broken glass or thorny desert vegetation (such as cacti or agave clippings) must be safely contained inside a sealed cardboard box to protect the sanitation workers.

Summer
June to SeptemberDue to the extreme Arizona heat, sanitation routes start as early as an hour before sunrise to protect drivers and equipment. Always place your bins at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day to ensure you aren't skipped.
Winter
JanuaryBuckeye hosts an annual Christmas Tree Drop-off event during the first two Saturdays of January from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Trees must be completely stripped of decorations, tinsel, metal stakes, and stands.
Spring and Fall
March to May, October to NovemberHigh desert winds are common during transition seasons. Do not overfill your 96-gallon carts. If materials are piled above the rim and the lid cannot close, wind will scatter your trash, and the driver may bypass your cart.

Glass Recycling Makes a Comeback in 2025
After years of glass being excluded from many single-stream systems in the West Valley, Buckeye has officially reintroduced glass to its accepted curbside recycling list starting in 2025. Residents can now place clean glass bottles and jars directly into their blue bins, provided they are unbagged and free of food residue.
Self-Scheduled, On-Demand Bulk Trash Service
Unlike neighboring cities that enforce rigid, city-wide quarterly sweeps for bulky items, Buckeye offers an on-demand system. Active residential account holders are allotted four free bulk trash pickups per year. You can use the city's online scheduling tool to request a pickup that perfectly aligns with your garage cleanout or moving schedule.
The In-Ground Can Service Option
Buckeye offers a unique legacy feature for certain homes: the in-ground can service. For these properties, city-authorized staff actually pull and return the trash and recycle cans directly from the ground structures. Residents are simply responsible for owning and maintaining the containers and their associated underground housings.
Navigating the Verrado Alley Placements
The master-planned community of Verrado features distinct alleyway service routing. Residents with alley service must place their carts on a designated collection pad. The only exception is for homes situated on dead-end alleys, where residents are instructed to place their carts next to their driveways instead to accommodate the automated trucks.
