Weekly Collection Schedule
Official municipal pickup timing for Florence

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your scheduled service occurs on the week of an observed holiday, your trash and recyclables will be picked up one day later than usual. For example, Monday's route is picked up on Tuesday, and Thursday's route is picked up on Friday.
Yard Waste Exception
There is no separate yard waste collection; green waste follows standard holiday delay schedules.
Minor federal holidays do not disrupt service. Carts should be placed out on their normal day unless it is one of the four major holidays listed.

!Contamination Tips
Remove Lids and Caps
While Florence accepts plastics #1 through #7, all lids and caps must be removed and thrown in the regular trash before recycling the bottle or jug.
Skip the Gift Wrap
Gift wrapping paper, tissue paper, and paper napkins are often dyed or treated and cannot be processed at the recycling facility. Throw these items in the garbage.
Loose and Unbagged
Never put your recyclables in plastic garbage bags. The sorting equipment cannot open bags, and the plastic film will cause the recycling plant's machinery to jam.
Seasonal Information
Summer
June to SeptemberIntense Arizona heat requires collection crews to begin routes very early in the morning. Always place your carts at the curb the night before or no later than 5:30 AM on your scheduled service day.
Monsoon
July to SeptemberMonsoon microbursts and heavy winds can easily tip over unbagged trash, creating massive neighborhood litter issues. Ensure all garbage is securely bagged and that your cart lids are completely closed.
Winter
November to MarchWith the influx of winter residents and 'snowbirds,' overall waste volumes in Florence increase significantly. Ensure your bins are properly spaced at least 3 feet apart to accommodate the automated trucks handling the higher neighborhood density.
About Florence Waste Management
Unified Collection Days and Route Areas
The Town of Florence partners with Waste Connections (formerly Right Away Disposal) to streamline solid waste collection. Rather than having separate days for garbage and recycling, both carts are serviced on the same day each week using automated collection vehicles. While pickup days vary by neighborhood—for example, the Anthem at Merrill Ranch community is traditionally serviced on Thursdays, while other local Florence neighborhoods are serviced on Mondays—all residential utility billing and customer service are managed directly by the Town.
Navigating Monthly Bulk Trash Service
Florence residents receive a complimentary bulk trash pickup once a month, scheduled for the 2nd Monday of the month. However, this service is not automatic; you must proactively submit an online request or call the Town by noon on the Friday preceding the collection day. The town allows up to 6 cubic yards of neatly arranged bulk waste per scheduled household. Any materials placed in alleys or on neighboring vacant lots will be skipped.
Strict Limits on Construction Debris
If you are undertaking DIY home renovations, be aware of strict weight and size limits. The Florence bulk trash program only accepts a maximum of 25 pounds of construction and demolition (C&D) waste generated by the homeowner. Heavy materials such as cement, bricks, stones, dirt, and pipes over one inch in diameter are strictly prohibited. For larger remodeling jobs, residents must rent a private roll-off dumpster or haul the waste to a local landfill.
Pinal County Free Disposal Days
In collaboration with Pinal County, local landfills such as the Cactus Landfill in Florence host periodic 'Free Disposal Days' throughout the year. Town of Florence residents can use these events to freely drop off excess municipal solid waste, furniture, and non-refrigerant appliances. Proof of residency, such as a Town of Florence utility bill and a driver's license, is required to waive the standard gate fees.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule a bulk trash pickup in Florence?
Bulk trash is collected on the 2nd Monday of each month, but you must schedule it in advance. You can schedule online through the Town's portal or call the Town of Florence at 520-868-7680 by noon on the Friday prior to the bulk collection day.
Can I put glass in my Florence recycling bin?
Yes, unlike many neighboring Arizona communities, the Town of Florence recycling program currently accepts glass food and beverage jars and bottles. Ensure they are lightly rinsed and placed loosely in your cart. Window glass and mirrors, however, are not accepted.
Who do I contact if my trash cart is broken or my pickup was missed?
Even though Waste Connections handles the physical hauling, the Town of Florence handles all customer service and billing. For any missed pickups, cart repairs, or billing questions, contact the Town Utilities department at 520-868-7680.
What happens to my trash schedule on holidays?
The Town only delays service for four major holidays: New Year's Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If the holiday falls on a weekday, collections for the remainder of that week are delayed by one day.
