Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your scheduled pickup day falls on or after New Year's Day or Christmas Day during the work week, service will be delayed by one day (e.g., Friday routes collected on Saturday).
Yard Waste Exception
Organics and recycling follow the exact same holiday shift as residential trash.
Republic Services drivers operate on a normal schedule for all other holidays, including Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July. Do not delay putting out your carts on these days.

Styrofoam Belongs in the Trash

To comply with California's SB 1383 mandate, Antioch updated its waste program to require all food waste and food-soiled paper products to be placed directly into the green organics cart. Since the program's full residential rollout in July 2023 and subsequent weekly service update in July 2024, residents are instructed to mix meat, dairy, and coffee grounds with their yard trimmings to reduce methane emissions from decomposing landfill waste.
Taking Advantage of On-Call Cleanups
Getting rid of excess clutter or large furniture is easy thanks to Antioch's generous bulky waste program. Republic Services provides eligible single-family households with two free on-call garbage cleanups (up to two cubic yards each) and three on-call recycling or green waste cleanups annually. These appointments must be scheduled in advance and are perfect for post-project cleanouts.
Disposing of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Toxic items such as paint, motor oil, batteries, and electronic waste cannot be placed in any curbside cart. Fortunately, Antioch residents have free access to the Delta Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located on the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway. This dedicated center safely processes dangerous chemicals, e-waste, and even medical sharps every Thursday through Saturday.
Construction and Demolition (C&D) Requirements
Antioch strictly enforces a C&D Recycling Ordinance designed to align with the California Green Building Code. If you are undertaking a major home remodel or demolition, you are required to use Republic Services dumpsters and must provide proof that at least 65 percent of your job-site waste was successfully recycled, reused, or salvaged.
