Holiday Schedule
General Rule
The Solid Waste Division works on all holidays except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. If your normal collection schedule falls on one of these three holidays, collections will be delayed by exactly one business day for the remainder of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Organics collection follows the delayed holiday schedule during these designated holiday weeks.
Alley container sweepers and curbside routes remain on normal schedule for all other federal or municipal holidays.

Do Not Mix Pet Waste in the Green Organics Cart
While pet waste and kitty litter are accepted in the Black/Gray mixed waste container, they are strictly banned from the green organics cart. Animal feces contain parasites that contaminate municipal composting piles and render them unusable.
Keep Plastic Out of Organics Composting
When bagging your raw food scraps or green waste, only use clear plastic bags so drivers can easily verify contents and screen out heavy plastic contamination. Never put dark trash bags, plastic wrap, or plastic forks in the green container.
Separate Fibrous Palm Fronds
Palm fronds, bamboo stalks, and tough succulents do not degrade quickly enough during high-speed composting. Dispose of heavy palm fronds in your Black/Gray mixed waste bin rather than the green organics container.
