December - JanuaryHoliday tree recycling begins the day after Christmas and runs for three weeks. Residents can chop bare trees and place them in the green organics cart, or leave them on the ground next to the bins. Trees over six feet must be cut in half. Flocked trees must go in the trash.

January - DecemberHazardous waste drops are exclusively held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Plan your garage cleanouts accordingly, as WM will not accept liquid paints or chemicals curbside.

Waste Management Curbside Collection Protocol
Refuse collection for neighborhoods across Chino Hills is exclusively managed by Waste Management (WM). To maintain clean streets and ensure timely pickups, all residents are required to wheel their provided carts to the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. on their scheduled trash day. Spacing is incredibly important for the automated trucks to do their job properly. Homeowners must leave at least three feet of distance between each cart, as well as keeping them away from mailboxes, parked vehicles, and lamp posts. Once the WM trucks have emptied the containers, city regulations stipulate that they must be removed from the public right-of-way and stored out of public view by 8:00 p.m. on the same day.

With the implementation of California's statewide organics recycling mandate, the way Chino Hills handles green waste has fundamentally changed. The green organics cart is no longer just for grass clippings, leaves, and pruned branches. Doing so diverts methane-producing materials from regional landfills. Never bundle your recyclables in plastic garbage bags, as film plastics wrap around the gears at the processing facility and cause massive equipment jams. Thankfully, Chino Hills residential customers are provided with up to three complimentary bulky item pickups per calendar year. During each scheduled appointment, you can place up to three large items on the curb, such as old mattresses, broken appliances, or couches. You must call Waste Management customer service directly at 800-423-9986 at least 24 hours before your regular collection day to reserve your spot, as drivers will not pick up unauthorized oversized items left on the sidewalk.
Handling Holidays and Electronic E-Waste
Waste Management observes six primary holidays throughout the year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If your normal collection day lands on or after one of these dates during the week, your service will be pushed back by exactly one day. Separately, it is illegal to throw electronic waste like old computers, televisions, and cell phones into any of your standard carts.
