!Contamination Tips

Do not bag your recyclables

Plastic bags jam the gears at the recycling sorting facility. Place your clean cardboard, plastics, and metals loosely into the recycling cart. Any plastic bags and film should go into your black-lidded trash cart.

Keep the lids completely shut

Under Eastvale's strict Cart Monitoring Program, carts with lids that are propped open by excess waste will be flagged. Do not overfill your containers; if you consistently have too much waste, contact WM for an additional cart.

Never put batteries in the bin

Lithium-ion and household batteries are notorious for sparking catastrophic fires inside collection trucks. Keep all batteries out of your curbside carts and take them to a Riverside County HHW collection center.

Seasonal Information

Summer

July - September

Eastvale's new WM Cart Monitoring and Enforcement Program officially launches in July 2026. Avoid fines by ensuring you do not cross-contaminate your bins and your lids are fully closed.

Autumn

September - November

The City of Eastvale and WM frequently host free community Clean Up and Shred Events in the fall. This is a perfect opportunity to safely shred sensitive documents and dispose of excess household clutter.

Winter

December - January

Holiday trash delays only occur for Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If your normal collection day falls on or after these holidays during the week, service is delayed by one day.

About Eastvale Waste Management

Navigating SB 1383 Organics Recycling in Eastvale

In compliance with California's SB 1383 mandate, Eastvale strictly prohibits residents from placing food scraps and food-soiled paper into the standard trash cart. Instead, all organic waste—including meat, dairy, vegetables, coffee grounds, and greasy pizza boxes—must be diverted directly into the green organics and yard debris cart. Keeping these materials out of local Riverside County landfills helps drastically reduce harmful methane gas emissions.

Free Used Motor Oil Pickup and HHW Guidelines

While standard household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paint, pesticides, and batteries must be taken to a Riverside County Permanent Collection Center, Eastvale residents have a special perk for used motor oil. Waste Management offers free curbside pickup of residentially generated used motor oil. You simply need to contact WM Customer Care at (800) 423-9986 at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day to arrange the safe removal.

Maximizing Your Annual Bulky Item Allowances

Whether you are doing a spring garage cleanout or buying new furniture, residents with active curbside cart service in Eastvale are entitled to three free bulky item pickups per calendar year. This invaluable service accepts oversized household goods such as couches, refrigerators, washers, and dryers. Items like automotive bodies, loose construction debris, and tires are not permitted. You must request the pickup in advance through your My WM portal or by calling customer service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Waste Management pick up used motor oil in Eastvale?

Yes. While standard household hazardous waste is not accepted curbside, WM offers free pickup for residentially generated used motor oil. You must call WM customer service at (800) 423-9986 at least 24 hours before your regular collection date to schedule it.

Can I put food waste in my regular trash cart?

No. Due to California's SB 1383 mandate, food scraps and food-soiled paper are no longer acceptable in the trash container. All food waste must be sorted into your green organics cart.

How many free bulky item pickups do I get?

Eastvale residents with active curbside cart service are eligible for three free bulky item pickups per calendar year. You can use these pickups for large items like couches, appliances, and mattresses.

What is the new Cart Monitoring Program in Eastvale?

Beginning in July 2026, WM is rolling out an enforcement program to monitor carts for overfilling and contamination. If your lid is propped open or you place unacceptable items (like trash in the recycling bin), your cart may be tagged, and you could face service disruptions or fees.
