Always have your carts at the curb by 5:00 a.m., as route times may fluctuate during holiday weeks.

!Contamination Tips

No Tanglers Allowed

Keep water hoses, hangers, holiday lights, and extension cords out of the Blue recycling bin. KWRA explicitly bans these 'tanglers' because they wrap around sorting equipment and can shut down the entire Hanford recycling facility.

Keep Dirt and Rock Out of Green and Blue Carts

Never throw loose dirt, rock, concrete, or animal waste into the Green or Blue carts. These heavy, non-recyclable materials must go into the Black refuse container.

Ditch the Plastic Bags for Yard Waste

Do not bag your green waste. The City of Lemoore requires grass clippings, weeds, leaves, and small branches to be placed loose in the Green container to ensure proper composting without plastic contamination.

Seasonal Information

Winter

December - February

The City of Lemoore no longer provides loose curbside leaf pickup. All leaves must be placed inside the Green waste container. Additionally, cut Christmas trees can be placed in the Green bin or dropped off at the corner of Fox and F Street between December 26th and mid-February.

Summer

June - August

Intense Central Valley heat can cause organic matter in the Black and Green carts to smell quickly. Wash carts periodically, keep lids tightly closed to deter flies, and avoid placing unbagged animal waste directly in the hot sun.

About Lemoore Waste Management

Lemoore’s Central Valley Waste Collection System

As a member of the Kings Waste and Recycling Authority (KWRA), the City of Lemoore manages residential waste directly through its Public Works Refuse Division. Unlike neighboring towns that rely solely on private haulers, Lemoore uses a municipal fleet to collect the three-cart system (Black for refuse, Blue for recycling, and Green for yard waste). Keeping carts spaced at least three feet apart helps automated trucks navigate the residential streets and cul-de-sacs safely.

Strict Waste Separation & Potential Fines

Lemoore enforces a strict waste separation policy to meet California's diversion mandates. City Resolution #9912 dictates that cross-contamination—such as throwing food wrappers into the Blue bin or household trash into the Green bin—can trigger a formal warning on the first offense. Subsequent violations result in a $35 fee added directly to your utility bill, emphasizing the importance of sorting correctly.

Handling Bulky Items in Kings County

For items too large for the Black refuse cart, Lemoore residents can schedule a Bulky Clean Up directly with the city for a base fee plus KWRA disposal costs. Alternatively, residents can transport mattresses, e-waste, and U-waste (like household batteries and fluorescent tubes) directly to the KWRA facility in nearby Hanford, where these specific items are accepted for free.

Navigating Holiday Service Delays

Lemoore observes several major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. When one of these recognized holidays lands on a weekday, all subsequent collections for that week shift back by one day. For example, a Wednesday pickup moves to Thursday, and Thursday routes are serviced on Friday. Always check the annual Refuse Map and Schedule released by the Public Works Department to stay current.
