Blue Bin (Recycling)

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If an observed holiday falls on a weekday, service is postponed by one day for the remainder of the week. For example, if Independence Day is on a Monday and your normal collection day is Thursday, your pickup will be on Friday.
Yard Waste Exception
Your blue recycling cart and green yard waste cart will follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as your black trash cart.
If the holiday falls on a weekend, there is typically no change to the weekday collection schedule.

Keep Plastic Bags Out of the Green Bin
Never bag your green waste or food scraps in standard plastic bags. Plastic cannot be processed by the anaerobic digester and will contaminate the entire load of organic material.
No E-Waste in the Trash
California law prohibits electronic waste from entering the landfill. Never place items with a cord or battery, like cell phones, blenders, or laptops, into your black trash cart.
Clean and Dry Recyclables
Before tossing a plastic bottle or glass jar into the blue bin, ensure it is completely empty and give it a quick rinse. Leftover liquids can ruin surrounding paper and cardboard, making them unrecyclable.

Winter/Post-Holiday
December to JanuaryCR&R typically provides holiday tree recycling after Christmas. Remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and the tree stand. Flocked trees cannot be composted and must be cut up and placed in the black trash cart.
Summer
July to SeptemberInland Empire summers get exceptionally hot, which can cause odors in your green organics cart. Keep your food scraps in a container in the freezer during the week and dump them into the cart on the morning of your pickup.
Fall
October to NovemberDuring periods of high winds in the fall, make sure the lids on all your carts can close completely to prevent litter from blowing out and polluting Loma Linda's neighborhoods.

Loma Linda's organics recycling program doesn't just make compost—it creates fuel. Standard Three-Cart System
