Holiday Schedule
General Rule
When a recognized holiday falls on a weekday, all collections for the remainder of that week will be delayed by one day. For instance, Thursday service moves to Friday.
Yard Waste Exception
This one-day delay applies uniformly to all solid waste streams: trash, recycling, and organics.
If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there is no disruption to the regular weekday pickup schedule.

Unbag Your Recyclables
Never throw your recyclables into the blue bin in a plastic bag. Plastic bags jam the sorting machinery at the recycling facility and should only be placed in the gray trash cart.
Food Scraps Belong in the Organics Cart
Under the new California state law, all food waste—including meat, bones, dairy, and soiled paper—must be co-mingled with your yard debris in the green organics container, rather than the garbage.
Batteries Are a Fire Hazard
Never toss lithium-ion or standard household batteries into any of your three curbside bins. They can easily spark fires inside collection trucks and must be disposed of at a designated Los Angeles County HHW event.

Winter
December to JanuaryHoliday tree collection begins on December 26 and continues for three weeks at no charge. Remove all stands, ornaments, and tinsel. Trees exceeding 6 feet in height must be cut in half before being placed next to your carts.
Spring and Fall
