All landfill trash must be bagged and fit entirely inside the gray cart with the lid closed. Overloaded carts will not be serviced by WM automated trucks.

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your scheduled collection day falls on or after an observed weekday holiday, your service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week (e.g., Thursday moves to Friday). If the holiday falls on a weekend, there is no service delay.
Yard Waste Exception
All three streams—trash, recycling, and organics—follow the exact same holiday delay schedule.
Only the six major holidays listed above will trigger a service delay in Oceanside. Other holidays like Veterans Day or Presidents' Day will not impact your Waste Management pickup schedule.

Ditch the Produce Stickers
Before tossing fruit and vegetable scraps into your green organics cart, make sure to remove those tiny PLU stickers and rubber bands. They are made of plastic and will contaminate the compost created at the El Corazon facility.
Never Bag Your Blue Bin Items
The fastest way to get your recycling rejected in Oceanside is to bag it in plastic garbage bags. Plastic film wraps around the gears at the sorting facility. Always toss your clean recyclables loosely into the blue cart.
Compostable Plastics Belong in the Trash
Even if a plastic cup or bag loudly claims to be 'compostable' or 'biodegradable', it cannot go into the green organics bin. Local commercial digesters cannot break them down quickly enough. Only standard paper bags can be used to hold food waste.

SB 1383 Compliance and El Corazon Compost

A unique local perk is that all this collected organic material is transported to Oceanside's El Corazon Compost Facility. The facility processes the waste into nutrient-rich compost, which is then made available for free to any Oceanside resident willing to self-haul it back to their garden.
