Collection services are typically pushed back by one day if your pickup falls on or after an observed holiday during the workweek. For example, if a holiday falls on a Thursday, Thursday service occurs on Friday and Friday service on Saturday.

Residential Garbage Collection with Alameda County Industries
If you live in San Leandro, Alameda County Industries (ACI) is your franchised hauler for all residential waste collection. To guarantee your bins are emptied, wheel them to the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your designated service day. ACI drivers need enough clearance to operate the mechanical arms on their trucks, so be sure to leave at least three feet of space between your carts. Make sure the lids can close completely, as overflowing containers might not be serviced. Scheduling Your Annual Bulky Item Cleanup
Once a year, single-family homes and multi-family residents in San Leandro receive a free on-call bulky item pickup from ACI. This is perfect for spring cleaning or getting rid of old furniture. The free program allows you to set out up to three large items—each weighing no more than 150 pounds—along with up to three cubic yards of bagged or boxed trash. Appliances, mattresses, and e-waste like old computers or televisions are all accepted. You must schedule this appointment in advance by calling (510) 483-1400. Keep in mind that appointments are incredibly popular and are completely blacked out during the first two weeks of January, so plan your cleanouts accordingly.
Holiday Service Interruptions and Customer Support
Unlike some municipalities that take off for every federal holiday, ACI only pauses collection operations on three specific days: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If one of these holidays lands on a weekday, all garbage and recycling routes for the rest of that week will be pushed back by one day. For all other holidays, your driver will arrive on the normal schedule.
