General Rule
When an observed holiday falls on a weekday, trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Organics and yard waste collections follow the exact same one-day delay as trash and recycling.
If a designated holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there is no interruption or delay in your normal collection schedule.

Loose Recyclables Only
Never put your recyclables in garbage bags. The sorting facility cannot open bags to check the contents, so bagged items in the blue cart are treated as trash and sent straight to the landfill.
Keep Batteries Out of Bins
Household batteries, especially lithium-ion ones, are a severe fire hazard when crushed inside collection trucks. Never place them in any of your three curbside carts.
Bag Food Scraps, Leave Grass Loose
It is critical to remember the dual rule for the green cart: kitchen food waste should be sealed in a plastic bag, but your yard trimmings and grass clippings must remain completely loose and unbagged.
