Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Republic Services observes six major holidays annually. If an observed holiday falls on a weekday (Monday through Friday), collection routes for that specific day and all remaining weekdays in that calendar week will be delayed by exactly one day. For example, regular Friday routes will shift to Saturday.
Yard Waste Exception
Organic waste and recycling collections delay uniformly alongside standard trash routes.
If an observed holiday lands on a Saturday or Sunday, there is absolutely no delay or change to your regular weekday collection schedule.

!Contamination Tips
Loose Recycling Is Mandatory
Never wrap your recyclables in plastic grocery bags before tossing them into the blue bin. Flimsy plastic films jam conveyor axles at the processing center, meaning entire bagged batches get routed straight to the landfill.
Pizza Boxes Belong in Green Organics
Cardboard pizza delivery boxes soaked with cheese grease or cooking oils cannot be recycled with clean paper. Put greasy pizza boxes directly into your green organics cart to compost them safely.
Keep Pet Droppings Out of Composting
While pet waste is accepted inside the gray trash cart, it is strictly banned from the green organics cart. Pathogens in pet feces can survive commercial pile settings, destroying the safety of agricultural soil batches.
Seasonal Information
Autumn Leaf Management and Runoff Guarding
October - DecemberHeavy autumn leaf fall must go straight into your green organics container. Local ordinances strictly prohibit residents from sweeping or blowing leaves into public street gutters, as loose garden debris clogs municipal storm sewer grates and sweepers.
After-Christmas Trash Bags Special
DecemberTo handle heavy holiday wrapping and packaging debris, Suisun City coordinates a temporary post-Christmas allowance. On your very first scheduled pickup day following Christmas Day, each household can set out up to two extra trash bags on the side of their regular carts for a free pickup.
Post-Holiday Christmas Tree Composting
JanuaryNatural, unflocked Christmas trees are recycled in early winter. Strip all tinsel, stands, and ornaments. Cut trees into lengths no longer than 18 inches to fit loosely into your green organics cart, or place them adjacent to the green cart during scheduled routes.
About Suisun City Waste Management
Suisun City's Curbside Resource Management Framework
In the scenic waterfront environment of Suisun City, California, residential refuse, recycling, and organic programs are organized through a franchise agreement with Republic Services. Operating in coordination with the City's Public Works Department, this three-cart layout is optimized to secure high landfill diversion rates, protect our localized delta marshes, and maintain public cleanliness.
Adhering to California SB 1383 Organic Mandates
To strictly comply with California Senate Bill 1383 methane-reduction directives, Suisun City has integrated a comprehensive organics recovery program. Local residential accounts use their green organics cart to co-mingle all prepared food scraps—including meat, bones, cheese, and dairy scraps—directly alongside standard yard trimmings and food-soiled paper products like paper bags or greasy pizza boxes.
Localized Processing and the Potrero Hills Landfill Network
Waste collected from Suisun City neighborhoods is routed into localized infrastructure that benefits our regional grid. A significant portion of municipal solid waste goes directly to the adjacent Potrero Hills Landfill, located right here in Suisun City, which harvests methane gas emissions as a clean, renewable energy source to provide nearly forty percent of the power for local residential homes and industries.
Advanced Tracking of Forthcoming Franchise Transition Details
Following formal authorization by the City Council, Suisun City is in a structured administrative transition window to onboard a new municipal waste operator. While Republic Services will completely maintain standard residential operations through June 30, 2027, Recology Vacaville Solano will assume the franchise beginning July 1, 2027. This progressive update will introduce customized 64-gallon cart variations and free appliance appointments.
