Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If an observed holiday falls on a weekday, your collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. If the holiday falls on a weekend, there is no change to the schedule.
Yard Waste Exception
Organics and recycling follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as standard trash collection.
Regular collections will occur on all other federal holidays not explicitly listed by Valley Vista Services.

Hide Your CRV Containers
To prevent unauthorized scavenging which often leads to messes around your carts, the City of Walnut recommends placing your CRV aluminum cans and glass bottles at the very bottom of your recycling cart, hiding them under paper and cardboard.
Universal Waste Needs Special Handling
Universal wastes like batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and electronics (U-waste) cannot go into any of your three curbside carts. Call VVS, and they will send you a U-waste bag to safely dispose of household batteries and bulbs.
No Plastic Bags in the Green Cart
Never use traditional plastic garbage bags to contain your yard waste or food scraps. Plastic contaminates the commercial composting process. If you want to bag your food waste, you must use a paper bag or a BPI-certified compostable bag.

December - JanuaryVVS offers Holiday Tree Pickup on your regular trash day from December 26 through January 10. Trees are processed for recycling, so you must remove all ornaments, garlands, tinsel, and flocking. Trees taller than six feet must be cut in half.
Spring/Summer
March - AugustIf you are taking on large seasonal landscaping or remodeling projects, VVS offers temporary roll-off 'clean-up bins' to Walnut residents. You can rent 3-yard bins or larger roll-offs for extensive debris that exceeds the limits of your regular carts.
