Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Waste Management only observes three holidays. If the holiday falls on a weekday, collections for the remainder of the week will be pushed back by one day (e.g., Thursday service moves to Friday).
Yard Waste Exception
The one-day holiday delay applies equally to your trash, recycling, and organics carts.
If a designated holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there are absolutely no delays to your standard weekday collection schedule.

Keep Tanglers Out
Garden hoses, electrical cords, ropes, and clothing are known as 'tanglers.' These items wrap around the mechanical sorting screens and cause facility shutdowns. Put them in the trash if they cannot be donated.

Trees must be cut into 3-foot sections. Alternatively, local Cub Scout Pack 49 frequently offers weekend tree pickups for a community donation.
Fall
November to JanuaryDuring the designated Fall Leaf Season (November 1 to January 31), West Sacramento residents may place excess leaves in paper bags or ASTM D6400 compostable bags beside their organics cart. Bags must not weigh more than 50 pounds.
