!Contamination Tips
Contractor Debris is Excluded
If you hire a professional landscaping, land clearing, or tree trimming service, they are legally required to remove any vegetative material they generate. Waste Management will not collect commercial landscaping debris at the curb.
No Pallets or Construction Materials
When setting out bulk waste for the Quarterly Clean-up or a special request, remember that wooden pallets and construction debris (like drywall or flooring) are strictly prohibited. These items must be hauled privately to the Lake County Landfill.
Properly Label Your Chemicals
Before transporting items to the Lake County HHW facility in Tavares, ensure all pool chemicals and automotive fluids are clearly labeled. If a container is leaking, place it inside a secondary heavy plastic container and label the outside.

About Eustis Waste Management
Eustis Transitions to Waste-to-Energy (WTE)
In a major shift for local sustainability, the City of Eustis officially replaced its traditional curbside recycling program with a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) program starting the week of March 3, 2025. This modern approach to waste management streamlines the disposal process for residents, meaning complex sorting of plastics and papers is no longer required at the curb, as the collected municipal solid waste is instead converted into usable energy.
Repurposing Your Old Garbage Cans for Yard Waste
Eustis encourages residents to repurpose their old personal garbage cans (up to 40 gallons) specifically for yard waste collection. While you can still use standard plastic bags or cardboard boxes for leaves and pine needles, using a dedicated, reusable 40-gallon can is the preferred, eco-friendly method. Once your yard debris is properly staged at the curb, you must call the Water Customer Service department to trigger a special collection by Waste Management, which will occur within 72 hours of your request.
The Quarterly Clean-Up Advantage
To help keep neighborhoods pristine, Eustis hosts a Quarterly Clean-up schedule occurring in specific weeks during February, May, August, and November. During these designated weeks, residents do not need to call ahead for a special pickup. Waste Management will automatically collect all properly prepared bulk items, furniture, appliances, and yard trash on your normal collection day, utilizing mechanical trucks for items that the standard garbage truck cannot handle.
Handling Household Hazardous Waste in Lake County
Toxic materials such as leftover pool chemicals, old latex paint, lawn pesticides, and propane tanks should never be placed in your Eustis curbside bins. Fortunately, Lake County provides a free drop-off solution for these dangerous items. Residents can transport their hazardous household chemicals to the Lake County Household Hazardous Waste Center located on County Landfill Road in nearby Tavares.
