All household garbage and yard clippings must be bagged before being placed in the green cart. Place the cart curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection day, at least 3 feet from the street and 5 feet from mailboxes or cars, with the wheels facing your home.

Small yard waste must be bagged and placed entirely inside your green waste cart for regular collection. Larger branches or excess debris must be scheduled as a bulky waste pickup.

Placement
Place items curbside no earlier than 3 days prior to your scheduled appointment and no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup. You must provide a 15-foot overhead clearance from trees and power lines.

The two annual bulk pickups are included in your annual solid waste fee. Exceeding your volume limits or leaving unauthorized construction debris may result in exhausted future pickups or additional code enforcement fees.

General Rule
Miami-Dade County provides waste collection services rain or shine on all holidays EXCEPT Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Independence Day, and Christmas Day.
Yard Waste Exception
Because yard waste is collected in the standard green waste cart, it follows the exact same holiday suspension schedule.
If your scheduled collection day falls on one of the three observed holidays, your service will resume on the next regularly scheduled pickup day for your route.

Never Bag Your Recyclables
The number one cause of recycling contamination in Miami-Dade County is bagged materials. Plastic bags wrap around and completely jam the mechanical sorting screens at the processing plant. Dump your recyclables loosely directly into the blue cart.
Leave Styrofoam in the Trash
Even if it has a recycling triangle on it, Styrofoam (including foam cups, packing peanuts, and takeout containers) cannot be processed by the county's single-stream system. Throw all foam products in your green cart.
Keep Tanglers Out
Garden hoses, wire hangers, holiday lights, and extension cords belong in the green trash cart, not the blue recycling cart. These items act as 'tanglers' and can severely damage the sorting equipment.

June to NovemberDuring hurricane season, clear your yard of dead branches early. If a tropical storm or hurricane warning is issued, do not place any bulky waste or yard debris at the curb, as county collection services will be temporarily suspended to secure vehicles.
