All Marion County Solid Waste facilities and recycling centers are completely closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Modified hours may apply to Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste drop-off follows the exact same holiday closure schedule as the recycling centers.
If you use a private curbside hauler in Liberty Triangle, you must contact them directly, as most push collection back by one day following a major holiday.

Glass Belongs in the Garbage
Marion County's recycling centers do not accept glass jars or bottles anymore. Please bag them safely and toss them into the regular household trash compactor to avoid contaminating the recycling stream.
Ditch the Plastic Bags
Never bag your recyclables. Plastic bags jam the sorting machinery at the processing plant. Dump your approved plastics, metals, and cardboard loosely directly into the green single-stream bins.

Marion County requires strict separation of e-waste and household hazardous waste (HHW) to protect the Florida aquifer. Up to five gallons of automotive oil and residential paint can be dropped off at standard recycling centers. However, larger quantities of chemicals, pool supplies, or fertilizers must be taken to the Baseline HHW facility.
