Remove All Caps and Lids
Before tossing plastic bottles into your blue recycling cart, you must completely remove the caps and lids. Miami Beach recycling facilities only accept narrow-neck plastic containers (#1 through #7) without their caps.
Never Bag Your Recyclables
Keep all your paper, glass, and metal loose in the blue bin. Plastic garbage bags jam the mechanical gears at the Material Recovery Facility, meaning bagged recyclables will be treated as standard landfill garbage.
Keep Pizza Boxes Out
While cardboard is recyclable, greasy pizza boxes are not. The oil and food residue contaminate the paper pulping process. Throw used pizza boxes in your regular garbage.

Exclusive Back and Side Yard Trash Collection
Unlike most municipalities that require all bins to be hauled to the curb, the City of Miami Beach offers a highly unique collection service for standard household garbage. Contracted through Waste Connections, general housekeeping trash is collected directly from the back or side yard of residential properties two times a week.
