Green Cart Bin (Trash)
All garbage must be bagged and tied. Place the cart within 3 feet of the street by 7:00 AM on your collection day, with arrows pointing toward the street and at least 3-5 feet of clearance from obstacles. Lid must close.

Large yard waste is collected on your monthly bulk day. Branches and lumber must be no longer than 6 feet and no wider than 12 inches in diameter. Do not put thick branches or palm fronds inside the Green Cart.

Placement

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Waste Pro operates most days but observes select major holidays. If a holiday interrupts your scheduled service, the collection may slide to the next day or be skipped until your next regular service day. Always check the Miramar Public Works alerts for route modifications.
Yard Waste Exception
Monthly bulk and yard waste collections falling on an observed holiday will typically be rescheduled. Verify the shifted date via the city's Zone Map calendar.

Keep Palm Fronds Out of the Trash Cart
Never force large branches, limbs, or palm fronds into your Green garbage cart. They easily jam the dumping mechanisms on the collection trucks and halt neighborhood routes. Set large yard debris aside for your monthly bulk collection day.
Unbag Your Recyclables
Plastic grocery bags and garbage bags are heavily prohibited in Miramar's Blue recycling carts. If you bag your recyclables, the processing facility treats the entire bag as garbage. Toss your clean paper, cans, and bottles loosely into the cart.
Tape Your Glass for Bulk Pickup
If you are disposing of a mirror, glass tabletop, shower door, or plate glass during your monthly bulk pickup, the city requires you to place the item in a rigid container and heavily tape it. Unwrapped glass presents a major safety hazard to workers and will not be collected.

March - MayIf you hire a contractor for spring home renovations, be aware that up to 3 cubic yards of contractor-generated waste will be collected only if an active City permit has been issued. Otherwise, all debris produced by a hired contractor is their responsibility to haul away.

The City of Miramar manages residential waste through a franchise agreement with Waste Pro of Florida. Residents are provided with a Green Cart for regular garbage, serviced twice a week, and a Blue Cart for single-stream recycling, collected once a week. Units lacking a certified placard documenting the Freon removal will be rejected by Waste Pro drivers due to environmental hazard regulations.
First Saturday Free Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
Items like used motor oil, wet paint, insecticides, and household electronics are strictly banned from your Green Cart and the monthly bulk pile. To help residents dispose of these items safely, the City of Miramar hosts a free monthly drop-off event on the first Saturday of every month at 17200 Pines Blvd (between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM). You must bring a driver's license to prove Miramar residency.

The rollout carts belong to the City of Miramar. If your cart is damaged due to normal wear and tear or by the collection crew, they will repair or replace it. I missed my monthly bulk pickup date. What are my options?
If you miss your designated monthly bulk pickup day, you cannot leave the items at the curb until next month. You must either take the items to the Broward County Landfill yourself, or call Waste Pro at 954-967-4200 to schedule a special pickup. Please note that a special pickup will incur an additional fee.
Can I put small yard clippings in my Green garbage cart?
Yes, small yard waste clippings can be placed inside your Green garbage cart as long as they are bagged and the cart's lid can close completely. However, large branches, logs, and palm fronds must be saved for your monthly bulk collection day.
Will the city pick up construction debris left by my contractor?
