Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If an observed holiday falls on or before your scheduled collection day (Monday or Wednesday), service will be delayed by one day for the rest of that week. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on Monday.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste collection follows the exact same holiday delay schedule as regular refuse and recycling pickups.

No Plastic Bags in the Recycling Cart
Never place your recyclables inside plastic grocery bags. Plastic film gets tangled in the sorting machinery at the Groot facility. Take plastic bags to a local grocery store for proper recycling and leave your curbside recyclables completely loose.
Keep Styrofoam Out
Polystyrene (Styrofoam) cups, packing peanuts, and blocks are strictly prohibited from your curbside recycling toter in Hoffman Estates. These must go in the regular garbage or be taken to a specialized drop-off location.
No Yard Waste in Standard Trash
Illinois state law prohibits yard waste from entering standard landfills. Never place grass clippings, leaves, or branches in your regular refuse toter. Use dedicated yard waste bags or carts from April through November.
