Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a holiday falls on a weekday on or before your scheduled collection, service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Friday routes will be serviced on Saturday.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste follows the exact same holiday delay schedule as regular garbage and recycling during its active season.
If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on Monday, delaying the entire week by one day. Holidays falling on a Saturday do not disrupt the service schedule.

Do Not Bag Your Recyclables
Keep all recyclables loose in your Groot cart. Plastic garbage bags clog the gears at the sorting facility and will cause the entire load to be sent to the landfill as contamination.
Keep Electronics Out of the Trash
It is illegal in Illinois to dispose of electronics like TVs and computers in the landfill. Do not hide them in your Groot carts. Instead, call Groot 24 hours in advance to schedule a prepaid e-waste collection.
Disassemble Heavy Items
If you are utilizing the 2 cubic yard DIY construction debris allowance, remember that toilets, kitchen cabinets, and vanities must be completely disassembled so that no single piece weighs more than 50 pounds.
