If an observed holiday falls on or before your normal collection day, pickups will slide to the following day for the remainder of the week (e.g., Thursday collections move to Friday).
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste follows the same holiday slide schedule as trash and recycling.
Not all federal holidays disrupt service. If a holiday is not listed (like Veterans Day or Columbus Day), place materials at the curb on your normal scheduled day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit to how much bulk trash I can put out in Annapolis Neck?
Yes. Anne Arundel County restricts bulk collection to three (3) large items per week. You can place standard items like a sofa or mattress directly beside your regular trash on your normal collection day without making an appointment.
How do I throw away an old refrigerator or lawnmower?
Large metal items and appliances (often referred to as 'white goods') are not collected with standard bulk trash. You must call Anne Arundel County Customer Service at 410-222-6100 to schedule a specialized pickup using a different truck.
Can I put yard waste in my yellow county recycling cart?
No. The yellow county-issued carts are strictly reserved for single-stream household recyclables (paper, plastic, metal, glass). Yard waste must be placed in paper lawn bags or a rigid container clearly marked with a large 'X'.
Why does collection start so early in the summer?
To comply with Maryland's Heat Stress Standard and ensure the safety of sanitation workers, Anne Arundel County shifts all collection start times from 6:00 AM to 5:00 AM exclusively during the months of June, July, and August.
