Holiday Schedule

General Rule

Baltimore County utilizes a 'slide' make-up schedule for seven major holidays. If a holiday falls on or before your normal collection day, your pickup will shift one day later for the remainder of that week.

Yard Waste Exception

Yard material and recycling collections also shift according to the county's standard holiday slide schedule.

For addresses on a twice-a-week trash schedule, the first collection will slide, and the second trash collection will be canceled for that holiday week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bulk items can I put out in Overlea?

Baltimore County enforces a strict limit of exactly three (3) bulk items per scheduled collection. If you place more than three items at the curb, the excess materials will not be collected.

Do I need to schedule a bulk trash pickup?

No. Eligible single-family homes and townhomes in Overlea are automatically assigned two specific bulk collection dates each year by the county. You must use the county's online schedule tool to look up your assigned dates.

Can I put yard waste in a plastic bag or trash can?

No. Overlea residents must use heavy-duty, two-ply paper lawn bags or tie branches into small bundles. Yard waste placed in plastic bags or rigid trash cans will be rejected by the collection crews.

What should I do if a holiday falls on my trash day?

Baltimore County uses a 'slide' schedule for seven specific holidays. If one of these holidays occurs on a weekday before or on your normal collection day, your pickup will be delayed by one day for the rest of that week (e.g., a Monday pickup moves to Tuesday).
