Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your collection day falls on or after an observed holiday, your pickup is delayed by one day for the rest of that week (known as the 'Holiday Slide'). Friday collections move to Saturday.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard trim collections and scheduled bulk pickups follow the exact same holiday slide schedule as regular trash and recycling.
If a major holiday falls on a weekend, it generally does not affect the weekday curbside collection schedule. Always verify the current week on the MC311 portal.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many bulk trash pickups can I schedule in Redland?
Montgomery County allows eligible single-family homes up to 5 bulk trash collections per calendar year. You must schedule these in advance via MC311 before 11:59 PM the day prior to your scheduled collection.
Can I use plastic bags for my yard waste?
No. Montgomery County strictly prohibits the use of plastic bags for yard trim. All leaves, grass, and brush must be placed in compostable paper yard bags or reusable, rigid trash cans.
What should I do with old appliances and scrap metal?
Scrap metal and large appliances like refrigerators or washing machines are not collected with standard bulk trash. They require a separate scrap metal appointment through MC311, but the county offers an unlimited number of these collections per year.
What happens to my trash collection if it snows?
If severe winter weather forces Montgomery County to suspend collection services, they will implement a slide schedule. Pickups will be shifted one day later for the remainder of the week, with crews working through Saturday to catch up.
