!Contamination Tips
Leave Out the Plastic Bags
Plastic bags and films are the number one cause of jammed sorting machinery. Never bag your recyclables; place them loose directly into your Granger Curby Recycler.
Beverage Cases Belong in the Trash
While regular boxboard is highly recyclable, 6-, 12-, or 24-pack beverage cases are not accepted in Delhi Township's single-stream carts due to their moisture-resistant chemical coatings.
Clean and Dry Containers Only
Before tossing plastic tubs or metal cans into the bin, give them a quick rinse. Any lingering food residue can contaminate an entire load of clean paper and cardboard.

About Delhi Waste Management
Understanding Delhi Township's Private Subscription Trash Services
Unlike municipalities with city-run waste collection, Delhi Charter Township residents manage their own trash pickup through private subscriptions. You have the freedom to choose your preferred hauler, though Granger Waste Services is the prominent choice due to their direct partnership with the township for curbside recycling. When moving to Holt or the surrounding Delhi area, be sure to set up your waste service early to avoid any service gaps.
How to Get Free Curbside Recycling in Holt & Delhi
Thanks to a special joint program between Delhi Township and Granger Waste Services, residents can receive single-stream curbside recycling at no additional cost. To qualify, you must be a single-subscription Granger customer with weekly trash service. All recyclables go into one cart—often called the Curby Recycler—making it easy to keep cardboard, plastics, and metals out of Ingham County landfills.
Navigating Yard Waste and Brush Drop-Offs
Managing yard debris in Michigan's changing seasons requires a bit of planning. The Delhi Public Services Department hosts specific free brush drop-off days throughout the year to help residents clear branches and limbs. For everyday grass clippings and leaves, residents can use paper yard waste bags, which are accepted at the Maintenance Division for a nominal fee, ensuring local stormwater systems stay clear of organic blockages.
Utilizing the Delhi Township Recycling Center
If you miss your curbside pickup or have excess cardboard from a recent move, the Delhi Township Recycling Center on Grovenburg Road is a convenient backup. Maintained by the Water Treatment Plant personnel, this self-service drop-off location is open seven days a week, including most holidays. It accepts a wide variety of materials from glossy magazines to plastics #1 through #7, making sustainable living highly accessible for Holt and Delhi residents.
