General Rule
Genoa Township adheres to the standard Waste Management holiday schedule. If a recognized holiday falls on a weekday on or before your scheduled pickup, service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Yard Waste Exception
Because yard waste is handled via seasonal drop-off events or independent subscription, winter holiday delays only impact your standard refuse and recycling routes.

Wrap All Fabric Bulk Items
If you are setting out a mattress, box spring, or upholstered furniture for your one weekly bulk item, it must be completely wrapped and sealed in plastic. Unwrapped fabric items pose a health risk to drivers and will be rejected.
Ditch the Plastic Yard Bags
During the Township Hall yard waste drop-off events, do not bring leaves in plastic bags. You must use biodegradable brown kraft paper bags. If you use plastic, the bags will literally be handed back to you.
Remove Refrigerator Doors
When placing a freezer or refrigerator out for bulk collection, the doors must be completely removed to prevent entrapment hazards for children. Additionally, all Freon must be professionally drained and tagged beforehand.

Every residence is provided with a 96-gallon cart, and all weekly refuse must fit entirely inside this container for automated pickup.
Curbside Recycling in Livingston County
Sustainability is a priority for Genoa Township, which is why weekly curbside recycling is included alongside standard refuse collection. WM provides a dedicated recycling cart for every home. Residents should place unbagged, clean recyclables into this cart.
