Separate Pizza Box Grease
Never throw pizza boxes with grease directly into the cardboard recycling bin. Tear off the greasy, oil-stained half and discard it in the regular trash, recycling only the clean, dry half of the box.
Remove Book Hardcovers
Hardcover books cannot be recycled whole in the paper stream. You must manually rip off the rigid hardcovers and discard them in the trash before recycling the interior paper pages.
Detach Glass Bottle Caps
Do not leave bottle caps attached to glass bottles. Remove all small plastic lids and metal caps from glass before recycling. However, small plastic caps can remain safely attached to plastic bottles.
