General Rule
If your collection day falls on or after New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, your garbage and recycling service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste and bulk collections follow a similar delay pattern during these three major holiday weeks, but exact collection days may fluctuate slightly based on volume.
GFL Environmental only observes these three major holidays. For all other holidays, including Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, you must place your bins out on your normal scheduled day.

Never Bag Your Recyclables
Plastic grocery bags and garbage bags easily jam the sorting machinery at the recycling facility. Make sure all your paper, glass, and plastic containers are placed completely loose inside your blue recycling cart.
Empty and Dry Paint Cans
Liquid paint is considered hazardous and is banned from curbside collection. If you need to throw away an old latex paint can in your bulk pile, you must let it completely dry out by leaving the lid off or mixing it with kitty litter.
Separate Yard Waste Properly
The city's specialized leaf vacuums can be heavily damaged by large sticks, stones, or pine cones. Always create two distinct piles for your yard debris: one strictly for grass and leaves, and a separate one for limbs and branches.
