Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your weekly collection day falls on or after one of these five observed holidays, your pickup will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste and pre-scheduled bulk pickups will follow the exact same one-day delay structure during holiday weeks.
Sanitation crews work normally on all other holidays not listed above (e.g., MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day, Veterans Day). Your schedule will not change on these days.

Never Use Paper Yard Bags
Unlike many neighboring Ohio cities, Cuyahoga Falls does not accept compostable paper yard waste bags at the curb. All loose yard debris must be placed inside the official tan 95-gallon yard waste cart.
Schedule Before You Set Out
Do not drag bulk items to the curb hoping they will be picked up. If you have not formally scheduled your bulk pickup by 4:00 p.m. the day prior, sanitation crews will bypass your oversized items.
Give Your Cart Space
The automated mechanical arms on the collection trucks require room to operate safely. Ensure your green, blue-lidded, and tan carts are spaced at least three feet away from each other, mailboxes, and parked cars.

Spring
MayThe Spring Clean-Up event occurs during the first two full weeks in May. During this time, residents can place excess trash bags and bulk items at the curb on their regular collection day without needing to schedule in advance.
Fall
SeptemberThe Fall Clean-Up happens during the first two full weeks of September, operating under the same rules as the spring cleanup, allowing unlimited reasonable disposal of excess bags and household junk.
Winter
December to JanuaryA Holiday Clean-Up period runs from December 26 through December 31 for free excess trash disposal. Additionally, live Christmas trees (free of bags and decorations) are collected curbside between December 26 and January 10.

You must submit your request via the online portal or call the Sanitation Department by 4:00 p.m. the day before your normal collection day; otherwise, the items will be left behind.
Strict Yard Waste Container Rules
A unique aspect of the Cuyahoga Falls yard waste program is the complete ban on brown paper yard bags. Residents must use the city-issued tan 95-gallon yard waste carts for leaves, grass clippings, weeds, and small branches. These carts can be requested at the Utility Billing Office with a $25 deposit and must be kept for a minimum of six months. In addition to the tan cart, crews will collect up to 5 securely tied bundles of brush each week.
Biannual and Holiday Clean-Up Weeks
Three times a year, the city hosts free Clean-Up Weeks to help residents dispose of excess household clutter. Taking place during the first two full weeks of May, the first two full weeks of September, and immediately following Christmas, these events allow residents to place additional trash bags and oversized items at the curb on their regular pickup day without the need to pre-schedule or pay overage fees.
