    Yard Waste Exception

Yard and bulk waste collection follows the exact same holiday suspension and resumption schedule as regular garbage.

Holidays such as Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, and Labor Day do not interrupt Best Trash services in this district.

    !Contamination Tips

Do Not Hide Liquids in Your Cart

Never place wet paint, motor oil, or cooking oil into your trash cart. If a hidden liquid spills or ruptures during the compaction process, it can ruin the street. Best Trash is not responsible for cleaning up liquid stains on your driveway or the road.

    Properly Prepare Freon Appliances

If you are discarding an old refrigerator, freezer, or AC unit, Federal Law requires that all Freon be drained by a certified professional first. You must attach the validation bill/tag to the appliance before Best Trash will collect it.

    Keep Contractor Waste Out

Waste generated by private contractors (such as major landscaping companies or home remodelers) will not be collected by Best Trash. Your contractor is legally responsible for hauling away their own debris.

    Seasonal Information

    Spring

    March to May

Spring landscaping often yields massive brush piles. Remember that yard waste is limited to 5 tied bundles per collection day. If your spring cleaning exceeds this, you must spread the bundles out over multiple Wednesdays and Saturdays.

    Summer

    June to August

During the intense Texas summer, trash can produce odors quickly. Ensure all household waste inside your cart is bagged. Note that if Independence Day falls on a Wed/Sat, your pickup will be skipped until the very next scheduled service day.

    Winter

    December to February

Holiday trash limits remain the same. Heavy cardboard from gifts should be broken down to fit in the cart or tied into 4-foot bundles. Christmas Day and New Year's Day will pause service if they fall on a collection day, resuming on the next regular schedule.

    About Channelview Waste Management

Navigating Channelview's Utility District Waste Services

Because Channelview is an unincorporated area within Harris County, municipal trash services are primarily managed by local utility districts rather than a centralized city government. For example, residents within Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 84 (HCWCID 84) receive their solid waste collection through an exclusive contract with Best Trash. Understanding your specific district's provider is crucial, as billing is typically integrated directly into your local monthly water bill.

    Twice-Weekly Collection for Maximum Convenience

Unlike many municipalities that restrict garbage collection to once a week, Channelview residents under the Best Trash contract enjoy twice-weekly pickups on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Each household is provided a distinct 95-gallon black cart with a red lid. To ensure seamless service, carts must be placed at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. If you generate excess household refuse, Best Trash allows you to place additional bags (weighing under 40 pounds) or personal 30-to-50-gallon containers right next to your official cart.

Integrated Bulk and Yard Waste Pickups

You do not have to wait for a special designated week to dispose of bulky items or heavy yard waste in Channelview. Best Trash conveniently collects bulk waste and yard debris on both of your regular Wednesday and Saturday collection days. Residents can place up to two large items, such as furniture or mattresses, out per day. Yard trimmings must be strictly bundled, ensuring that branches are under four feet in length and weigh less than 40 pounds, with a limit of five bundles per service day.

    Exclusions and Hazardous Material Restrictions

While the local collection service is robust, certain heavy-duty and dangerous materials are strictly prohibited from curbside pickup. Homeowners tackling renovation projects cannot dispose of construction debris like dirt, rocks, bricks, tile, or concrete in their residential carts. Furthermore, any liquids—such as motor oil, cooking oil, or wet paint—are banned. Best Trash crews will tag and leave behind any unapproved items, and residents are responsible for cleaning up any stains resulting from hidden, leaking liquids.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my trash exceeds the 95-gallon Best Trash cart in Channelview?

If you have more garbage than fits in your provided black cart with the red lid, you can use additional personal trash containers (between 30 and 50 gallons) or sturdy trash bags. Each extra bag or container must weigh less than 40 pounds and should be placed right next to your official cart.

How are holidays handled for Channelview trash pickup?

Best Trash observes New Year's Day, Independence Day, and Christmas Day. If your collection day falls on one of these holidays, your trash will not be picked up that day. Instead, it will be collected on your next regularly scheduled service day (Wednesday or Saturday).

Can I put construction materials out for curbside pickup?

No. Best Trash strictly prohibits construction and demolition debris. This includes dirt, rocks, bricks, tile, concrete, and roofing materials. You will need to hire a private roll-off dumpster or haul these items to a local landfill yourself.

What do I do if my Best Trash cart is stolen or broken?

If your cart becomes damaged due to normal wear and tear, Best Trash will replace it for free. However, if your cart is lost or stolen, you can purchase a replacement by calling Best Trash at 281-313-2378 for a fee of $85.00 plus tax.
