General Rule
For these three holidays, collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week (e.g., if Christmas is on a Monday, Monday routes are collected Tuesday, and Friday routes are collected Saturday).

Brush and extra items placed curbside follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as the automated carts.
The Deepwood Recycling Center and Brush Recycling Center are strictly closed in observance of all official City of Round Rock holidays.

Do Not Bag Your Recyclables
The recycling processing machinery cannot open plastic garbage bags. If you place your cans, paper, and plastic bottles inside a tied plastic bag, the entire bag is rejected and sent to the landfill. Keep recyclables loose.
Freon Appliances Require Special Handling
Never place refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioning units at the curb for your scheduled bulk pickup. Appliances containing Freon are strictly prohibited and must be handled by certified recycling professionals.
Brush Must Be Bundled for Curbside
If you want tree limbs collected during your regular weekly trash day, they cannot simply be tossed in a pile. They must be tightly bundled, weigh under 40 pounds, and measure no larger than 4'x4'x4'.

The Transition to Blue Carts
Following Republic Services' acquisition of Central Texas Refuse, Round Rock is undergoing a city-wide fleet and container update. The older Central Texas Refuse bins are gradually being phased out and replaced with Republic Services' iconic blue carts. The new system utilizes distinct colored lids on the blue cart bodies to clearly differentiate between household garbage and curbside recycling.
The Generous 7-Item Weekly Rule
Round Rock features one of the most flexible weekly garbage allowances in Central Texas. In addition to your primary blue garbage cart, the city permits residents to place up to seven additional items at the curb every single week. This can include extra personal garbage cans, tied bags of trash, bundled brush, or bagged leaves, provided each individual item weighs less than 40 pounds and measures under 4'x4'x4'.
Year-Round Flexible Bulk Scheduling
The City of Round Rock has officially retired the traditional, city-wide Spring Cleanup weekend. In its place, in-city residents are now empowered to schedule their one free annual bulk pickup at any point during the calendar year. By simply calling Republic Services one week before their regular collection day, residents can have up to five cubic yards of furniture, scrap metal, and lumber removed directly from their curb.
Two-Truck Staggered Collection System
If your primary cart is emptied early in the morning but your extra bags or bundled brush are left behind, do not worry. Round Rock often utilizes a staggered, dual-truck system. An Automated Side Loader (ASL) truck quickly services the main carts, while a separate rear-load truck follows the route later in the day to manually collect the up to seven additional items. Both crews guarantee completion by 6:30 p.m. on your designated service day.

The Deepwood Drive facility operates as Round Rock's ultimate resource for waste diversion. Sharing a campus, the Deepwood Recycling Center and the Brush Recycling Center provide a drop-off hub for everything from automotive fluids and cardboard to massive tree limbs. In addition to accepting hard-to-recycle items, the facility hosts a 'Re-USE' program where residents can pick up free, partially used household products like paint, fertilizers, and cleaning supplies.
