The monthly collection and 3 post-holiday collections are free. Additional collections can be scheduled anytime for an extra fee by calling Republic Services.
Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your normal collection day falls on or after a recognized holiday during the work week, your service will be delayed by one day. Holidays falling on a weekend do not delay collection.
Yard Waste Exception
Green waste collection follows the same one-day delay rule during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's weeks.
Sugar Land provides three bonus bulky waste collections immediately following Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's based on the Monday bulk service schedule.

Ditch the Black Bags for Yard Waste
If you bag your leaves or grass clippings in standard black or opaque garbage bags, they will not be collected. You must use clear or translucent bags so the collection crew can verify it is exclusively green waste.
Extract Freon Before Tossing Appliances
While large appliances are accepted during your monthly bulk pickup day, any item that cools (like refrigerators or window AC units) must have its refrigerant (Freon) completely and professionally removed prior to being placed at the curb.
Keep Plastic Bags Out of the Recycling Cart
Plastic grocery bags and film wrap can cause massive tangles in Republic Services' sorting machinery. Never bag your recyclables, and take soft plastics back to a local grocery store's drop-off bin instead.

Winter Holidays
December - JanuaryLive Christmas trees are picked up on your regular weekly green waste day (must be free of ornaments, lights, and tinsel). Artificial trees are not green waste and must be placed out during your designated monthly bulk waste collection day.
Spring and Summer
March - AugustDue to higher-than-normal green waste volumes during the peak growing season, collection trucks may experience delays. Leave your green waste at the curb, and crews will continue working until routes are completed.
Late Fall
NovemberTake advantage of the extra post-Thanksgiving bulk waste collection day to clear out any large items or extra household clutter accumulated before the peak winter holidays.
