Official municipal pickup timing for Leesburg
Trash Day
Trash is collected once per week by zone: Northwest on Monday, Northeast (inside the bypass) on Tuesday, Northeast (outside the bypass) on Wednesday, Southwest on Thursday, and Southeast on Friday.
Recycling
Recycling is collected weekly on the same day as your trash collection.
Yard Waste
Yard waste is collected town-wide on Mondays from April through November.

All garbage should be bagged before being placed inside the black Toter. Set out between 4:00 p.m. the day prior and 4:00 a.m. on your collection day.

While standard household bulk items may be collected as part of the service, specialty items, appliances containing freon, and construction debris (like carpet, plywood, and 2x4s) will incur an additional out-of-pocket fee.
Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Patriot Disposal does not operate on these six major holidays. If your normal collection day falls on or after a major holiday, your pickup will typically slide to the next day for the remainder of that week.
Yard Waste Exception
Holiday delays also impact yard waste schedules, so expect a one-day delay if Monday yard waste falls on a holiday.
Holidays not listed above (like Presidents' Day or Columbus Day) do not interrupt the standard collection schedule. Always set out your bins on your normal day unless the Town announces a specific slide.

Why did the truck drive past my trash and recycling bins in Leesburg?
The most common reason for a missed pickup is a late set-out. Town rules require Toters to be at the curb before 4:00 a.m. If you set your bins out at 7:00 a.m. and the truck already passed your street, Patriot Disposal will not return for a special run.
Can I put glass bottles in my blue Toter?
No. The Town of Leesburg and Loudoun County strictly ban glass from curbside recycling carts. You must take your clean glass to a designated regional purple drop-off bin or dispose of it safely in your black trash Toter.
How do I get rid of an old couch or refrigerator?
Large items that do not fit with the lid closed inside your black Toter will be ignored by regular crews. You must call Patriot Disposal or the Town's Public Works department in advance to schedule and coordinate a bulk waste pickup.
Are there rules on where I can store my trash cans during the week?
Yes. Town ordinances mandate that all Toters must be retrieved from the curb within 12 hours after they are emptied. Furthermore, you must store your cans behind the front architectural line of your home so they are not visible from the public right-of-way.
