Keep the Mojave Sand Out
Never place dirt, rocks, concrete, or heavy desert sand into any of your collection carts. These heavy materials can damage the automated lifting mechanisms on the collection trucks and will result in a non-collection tag.
Ditch the Plastic Bags for Recycling
Bagged recyclables end up in the landfill because sorting facilities cannot open them safely. Toss your aluminum, glass, and cardboard directly into the blue bin without a plastic liner.
Bag Your Food Scraps
To keep the green organics bin sanitary during hot summer months, Adelanto's hauler requests that all food waste be placed in bags before going into the green organics cart.

Disposing of large items in the High Desert doesn't have to lead to illegal desert dumping. Burrtec offers Adelanto residents up to four free bulky item pickups annually, allowing up to five large items per scheduled collection. Additionally, electronic waste—such as old televisions and computer monitors—is picked up curbside for free by simply calling customer service a week in advance.
Safe Disposal of Desert Household Chemicals
Extreme summer temperatures make storing or improperly disposing of hazardous chemicals especially dangerous. Items like pool chemicals, pesticides, motor oil, and flammable liquids are strictly prohibited from all curbside bins. Adelanto residents can safely dispose of these toxic materials at the nearby Victorville Household Hazardous Waste Facility located behind the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds.
