Frequency
One free bulky item pickup and two On-Call bag/brush pickups per year
Placement
Place your approved bulky item at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day, keeping it at least 3 feet clear of your automated carts, vehicles, and mailboxes.

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
MDRR only observes Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If your scheduled service day falls on or after one of these holidays, your collection is delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Yard Waste Exception
Bi-weekly recycling and weekly organics follow the exact same holiday schedule delay as regular garbage collection.
If Christmas or New Year's Day falls on a weekend, there is no change to the weekday collection schedule. All other holidays (like Thanksgiving and Independence Day) operate on a normal schedule.

Keep E-Waste and Batteries Out of the Bins
E-waste (TVs, cell phones, computers) and household batteries contain toxic chemicals and are strictly prohibited in all curbside carts. Bay Point residents can safely drop off household batteries in the collection container inside the MDRR Pittsburg lobby.
Soft Plastics Go in the Trash
While rigid plastic bottles and jugs belong in your blue cart, soft plastic film, grocery bags, and foam products tangle in the facility sorting machinery. These items must go into the garbage cart.
No Waxed Cardboard in Recycling
Standard corrugated cardboard is perfectly recyclable, but waxed cardboard (often used for produce shipping) or heavily food-soiled containers like greasy pizza boxes cannot be recycled and should be placed in the green organics cart.

Winter/Post-Holiday
December to JanuaryHoliday tree recycling is scheduled in advance. Trees longer than 3 feet must be cut into sections before being placed inside or next to your organics cart. Unflocked and undecorated trees can also be dropped off for free at the Loveridge Road Facility.
Spring
March to MaySpring cleaning is an excellent time to utilize your two free On-Call Pickups. You can set out up to twelve 32-gallon bags of excess garbage or yard waste per call, ensuring bags weigh no more than 50 pounds each.
Summer
July to SeptemberTo prevent your green organics cart from developing strong odors and attracting pests in the summer heat, freeze your food scraps in a container during the week and deposit them into the cart on the morning of your collection.
