Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a designated holiday falls on a weekday, collection services will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week (e.g., Thursday collections move to Friday). If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there is no delay in service.
Yard Waste Exception
Organics and recycling pickups follow the exact same holiday shift as standard trash collection.
Minor holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, and Veterans Day do NOT cause any service delays.

No Plastic Bags in the Green Cart
EDCO strictly prohibits the use of any plastic bags in the organics cart. This includes bags labeled 'compostable' or 'biodegradable.' If you need to contain your food scraps, use a paper bag, wrap them in newspaper, or place them loosely in the cart.
Bag Shredded Paper for the Blue Cart
While you should never bag standard recyclables like cans or plastic bottles, EDCO does request that shredded paper be placed inside a sealed, clear plastic bag before going into the blue recycling cart to prevent a litter hazard.
Keep Hoses Out of the Blue Bin
Tanglers like rubber garden hoses, extension cords, and wires can severely damage the sorting machinery at the EDCO recycling facility. Always dispose of these items in your gray trash cart.

October - NovemberManage autumn yard waste by placing all leaves and trimmed branches in the green organics cart. Do not place yard waste in plastic bags, and remember that Halloween pumpkins can also be composted in the green cart.
Winter
December - JanuaryFollowing the winter holidays, natural Christmas trees can be recycled. Place bare, unflocked trees directly into your green organics cart. Be sure to remove all lights, ornaments, and stands before disposal.
Spring
April - MayTake advantage of EDCO's free paper shredding and e-waste collection events often hosted in the spring and fall. These events are an excellent opportunity to safely dispose of old electronics and sensitive documents while picking up free mulch.
