If your scheduled collection day falls on or follows an observed holiday, your service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.

Organics and recycling follow the exact same holiday delay schedule as regular trash.
Waste Management collects all three streams in Corona. If an observed holiday falls on a weekend, your standard weekday service schedule is generally unaffected.

Ban on Bioplastics and 'Compostable' Bags
Even if a plastic bag or utensil is heavily marketed as 'compostable' or 'biodegradable', do not put it in the green organics bin. Corona requires organic food scraps to be placed in loose or wrapped in a standard paper bag.
No Bagged Recyclables
Never put your recyclables in plastic garbage bags before throwing them in the blue-lid cart. Plastic film and grocery bags easily tangle around the gears of Waste Management's material recovery sorting machinery.
Do Not Toss Batteries in Any Cart
Never throw batteries directly inside your trash or recycling cart, as they can spark fires in the trucks. Instead, take advantage of Corona's Universal Waste Collection by placing up to 15 batteries (AA, AAA, 9V, etc.) in a clear Ziploc bag right next to your blue cart.

Late December to Early JanuaryTo help manage the influx of post-holiday packaging, Corona residents receive bonus free extra pickups between December 26 and January 9. Bag extra refuse and set it next to the matching cart.

Senate Bill 1383 Compliance and Direct Billing
In order to meet California's aggressive organic waste diversion goals under Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383), the City of Corona enacted an updated solid waste franchise agreement with Waste Management (WM). One of the most noticeable changes for residents took effect in July 2024, when WM took over direct monthly billing for trash and recycling services. Residents no longer see solid waste charges bundled into their City of Corona utility bills, making WM the sole point of contact for customer service, missed pickups, and invoicing.
Standardized Three-Cart System by 2036
Corona's curbside service utilizes a comprehensive three-cart model to handle different waste streams efficiently. To comply with statewide regulations requiring color uniformity by 2036, newly issued carts feature a grey body with a specific color-coded lid: a black lid for landfill trash, a blue lid for recycling, and a green lid for organic waste.
