Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a CR&R observed holiday falls on a weekday, waste collection service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week (e.g., Thursday pickups move to Friday). If the holiday falls on a weekend, collection schedules are not affected.
Yard Waste Exception
All residential carts, including trash, recycling, and organics, strictly follow the same holiday delay schedule.
Minor holidays such as Presidents' Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Veterans Day do not cause service interruptions.

Loose is the Law for Recycling
Never bag your recyclables. Sorting facilities cannot safely open plastic bags, so any recyclables contained within a bag are treated as contamination and sent directly to the landfill. Toss cans, paper, and bottles loosely into your blue or gray cart.
Keep Batteries Out of Bins
It is illegal in California to discard any type of battery in standard trash or recycling carts. When the automated trucks compact the waste, hidden lithium-ion and alkaline batteries can spark, causing devastating fires. Always take batteries to a certified drop-off center.
No Styrofoam in the Blue Cart
Even if it features a recycling symbol, expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) is not accepted in Perris' curbside recycling program. Foam egg cartons, packing peanuts, and takeout containers must be placed in your black refuse cart.
