Winter Holidays
December 26 to January 10Burrtec provides free curbside Christmas tree recycling. Place your undecorated tree at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your regular collection day. Trees over 6 feet must be cut in half, and all stands, lights, and ornaments must be removed. Flocked or artificial trees are not accepted.
High Winds
Year-round (Peak in Spring and Fall)The High Desert experiences frequent strong wind gusts. To prevent trash from blowing across the landscape, ensure all refuse is securely bagged inside the barrel, make sure lids are tightly closed, and retrieve your empty barrels promptly after collection.

The Town of Yucca Valley partners exclusively with Burrtec Waste Industries to provide comprehensive residential and commercial refuse collection. Standard curbside service occurs once a week. Because collection routes can begin before dawn, homeowners are strictly required to wheel their designated carts to the curb by 6:00 a.m. on their scheduled service day. Placing bins out the night before is permissible, provided they are securely closed.
Defeating the Desert Wind: Cart Placement Rules

Holiday Schedule Adjustments
Burrtec observes several major national holidays, including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If your regular trash collection day falls on or after one of these holidays during the workweek, your service will be pushed back by one day. Over time, extreme UV exposure can cause plastic bins to crack or split. If your Burrtec trash, recycling, or organics cart is damaged, you can contact Burrtec Waste Industries directly to request a free replacement. Leave the broken, empty cart at the curb on your next service day for exchange.
Where can I dispose of used motor oil and old paint?
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) such as wet paint, motor oil, batteries, and pool chemicals cannot go into any curbside bin. Yucca Valley residents can drop these hazardous materials off for free at the designated San Bernardino County HHW facility on designated collection Saturdays.
Who is responsible for cleaning up trash that blows out of my bin?
According to local ordinances, the property owner is responsible for securing their waste. If high winds scatter garbage from an overflowing or open-lidded bin on your property, it is your responsibility to collect and properly dispose of the litter.
