Navigating Bulk Furniture and Appliance Pickups
Disposing of large items in Edgewater is relatively simple but requires patience. For old furniture and mattresses, simply place them at the street curb. If the regular garbage truck cannot collect them that day, your address will be added to a list for a specialized truck to come by within a few days. While the city handles regular trash and yard waste, curbside recycling in Edgewater is contracted out to Southard's Recycling. Collections occur once a week on the same day as one of your scheduled garbage days. The program accepts aluminum cans, corrugated cardboard, glass jars, plastic bottles (#1 through #7), and mixed paper. Bins must be set out by 7:00 a.m., but unlike many other municipalities, Edgewater specifically asks residents to leave the plastic caps on their plastic bottles when placing them in the bin.
Hazardous Waste and Sharps Disposal
