Use standard 32-gallon garbage cans or yard waste bags (compostable paper preferred) weighing no more than 40 lbs each. Cut limbs to a maximum of 6 feet in length and 40 lbs, arranged in piles no larger than 6' W x 6' D x 6' H. Max 20 bags/cans per week.

Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your collection day falls on one of the observed holidays, your pickup will be delayed by one day. All subsequent collections that week will also be pushed back by one day, concluding on Saturday.
Yard Waste Exception
During holiday weeks with high garbage volumes, yard waste collections may experience minor delays as crews prioritize standard household trash.
ECUA typically only suspends residential collection on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. All other holidays usually follow a normal schedule.

Tame the Tanglers
Keep garden hoses, electrical cords, ropes, and wire out of your blue recycling cart. These items are 'tanglers' that wrap around the gears at the ECUA Materials Recycling Facility, causing severe equipment damage and shutting down the sorting line.
Ditch the Plastic Bags
Never place plastic grocery bags or garbage bags in your recycling cart. If you collect recyclables in a plastic bag inside your home, empty the loose items into the blue cart and throw the plastic bag into the green trash cart.
Keep the Pizza Boxes Clean
While clean cardboard is highly recyclable, the grease-soaked bottom half of a pizza box is not. Tear the box in half: recycle the clean top lid and throw the greasy bottom half into the green garbage cart.

March - MayAs residents spruce up their yards for spring, yard waste volumes surge. ECUA crews may run behind schedule on heavy weekends. If your yard waste isn't picked up on its scheduled day, leave it at the curb; trucks will complete the route by Saturday.
