Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If your scheduled service day falls on a recognized holiday, your collection will be delayed by one day. Subsequent days in that week will also be pushed back by one day (e.g., Thursday routes run on Friday).
Yard Waste Exception
Because yard waste is collected by specialized trucks, holiday volumes may cause slight delays. Ensure your bags are out by 6:00 a.m. regardless of the holiday schedule.
If a holiday falls on a weekend when GFL is normally closed, your service week will typically continue on its regular schedule.

!Contamination Tips
Glass is Completely Banned
Stockbridge's recycling program explicitly prohibits glass bottles and jars. Glass fragments contaminate paper bales and can be hazardous to sorting facility workers. Place all glass in your regular garbage.
Containers Only in the Blue Bin
Only household-type containers (like bottles and jugs) belong in the recycling cart. Do not try to recycle plastic toys, garden hoses, or metal fixtures, even if they are made of recyclable materials.
Keep Appliances Freon-Free
If you are scheduling a bulk pickup for a refrigerator or air conditioner, a certified technician must remove the Freon first. The appliance must have a visible tag certifying that it is empty before GFL will touch it.
Seasonal Information
Spring
March to MayDuring spring landscaping, remember that un-bagged limb piles cannot exceed 4 cubic yards (about the size of a standard pickup truck bed). Exceeding this limit requires a $150 Special Pick Up fee.
Summer
June to AugustFrequent summer thunderstorms often lead to downed branches. You must call GFL Environmental 24 hours prior to your service day to have these storm limbs added to the knuckleboom collection schedule.
Fall
October to DecemberFall leaf collection is simple in Stockbridge. You can place up to 10 bags of leaves at the curb each week on your normal collection day, and you do not need to call ahead for this service.
About Stockbridge Waste Management
Exclusive Franchise Sanitation System
In the City of Stockbridge, residential waste collection is legally required for all homeowners and is exclusively serviced by Waste Industries (GFL Environmental, Inc.). Residents do not pay a monthly bill directly to the hauler; instead, sanitation services are billed annually by the City via the property tax bill. This streamlined system includes a 95-gallon garbage cart, weekly yard waste collection, and on-demand bulk pickups.
Free Curbside Recycling (Opt-In Required)
Stockbridge encourages sustainability by offering bi-weekly curbside recycling at no additional charge. However, the service is not automatic. Residents must proactively contact GFL Environmental to request a 65-gallon recycling cart. To keep the processing efficient, the city prefers that you leave recyclables un-bagged inside the container.
Generous Bulk and Brush Allowances
Unlike cities that charge per item, Stockbridge allows up to three bulk items (such as furniture or mattresses) to be picked up weekly for free. You must call GFL Environmental at least 24 hours in advance to get on the schedule. If you have an exceptionally large cleanout exceeding three items, you can schedule a 'Special Pick Up' for a flat fee of $150.00.
Strict Rules for Contractors and Construction
Stockbridge sanitation crews strictly prohibit construction materials in the curbside bulk collection. If you hire a professional landscaping, construction, or remodeling contractor, they are legally required to haul away their own debris. Only yard waste and minor household bulk items generated directly by the homeowner will be accepted at the curb.
Backdoor Service for Qualified Residents
The City of Stockbridge ensures that waste collection is accessible to everyone. If no one in your household is physically capable of rolling the heavy 95-gallon cart to the curb, you can call the Stockbridge Public Works Department. Once certified as a Qualified Disabled Resident, GFL will provide backdoor service for your household refuse.
