Holiday Schedule
General Rule
Baltimore County operates on a 'Holiday Slide' schedule. If a county-observed holiday falls on a weekday, collections scheduled on or after the holiday shift one day later for the remainder of that week (e.g., Monday moves to Tuesday, Friday to Saturday).
Yard Waste Exception
If a holiday falls during your assigned yard waste ('Y') week, the slide schedule applies to yard materials just as it does for regular trash and recycling.
County offices may close for other holidays like MLK Day or Veterans Day, but trash collection usually continues as normal unless specified on the official online schedule.
Observed Holidays
Seasonal Information
Spring & Summer
April to NovemberAround April 1st, separate yard waste routes reactivate. Check your property's schedule for your specific 'Y' days, which typically alternate by week based on 'Yard Schedule 1' or 'Yard Schedule 2'.
Fall
October to DecemberIt is a violation of Baltimore County Code (Section 18-3-109) to rake or blow leaves into public streets or storm drains. Bag all autumn leaves in compostable paper yard bags for pickup.
Winter
December to MarchDuring severe winter storms, residential routes may be suspended for safety. Additionally, winter holidays trigger a 'slide schedule' where collections are pushed one day later for the rest of the week.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out my exact trash and recycling pickup days in Milford Mill?
Since Baltimore County does not use a single, county-wide collection calendar, you must visit the Bureau of Solid Waste Management's website and enter your specific street address into their Collection Schedule lookup tool to get your personalized dates.
Do I need to schedule an appointment for bulk trash pickup?
No. Baltimore County automatically assigns two bulk pickup dates each year for single-family homes and townhomes in Milford Mill. You just need to check your online schedule to find your dates and place up to three items at the curb after 6:00 p.m. the night before.
What is the proper way to dispose of autumn leaves and grass clippings?
During your designated yard material ('Y') weeks, you must bag all grass clippings and leaves in heavy-duty paper yard bags. Plastic bags are not permitted. It is also illegal under county code to rake or blow leaves into the street.
Why wasn't my recycling bin collected?
The most common reason for a rejected recycling bin in Baltimore County is the presence of plastic bags. All recyclables must be placed loose in a bin clearly marked with an 'X' or 'RECYCLE'. Other reasons include mixing in Styrofoam or setting the bin out too late.
