If a designated holiday falls on a weekday, collections for that day and the remainder of the week are shifted one day later (e.g., Thursday collections move to Friday, Friday to Saturday).
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste follows the exact same holiday shift schedule as regular trash and recycling.
Several holidays like MLK Day, Presidents Day, and Juneteenth close county administrative facilities but do NOT alter curbside collection. Normal collection will occur on these days.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a yellow recycling cart in Parole, MD?
Eligible residents can call Anne Arundel County Customer Service at 410-222-6100 to request their single 65-gallon recycling cart, which county personnel will deliver directly to their home. Carts cannot be picked up at facilities.
Can I throw out construction wood with my regular bulk trash?
No. Anne Arundel County rules strictly prohibit wood, lumber, and construction materials from being collected curbside as bulky trash. These items must be properly disposed of at a facility like the Millersville Landfill.
Does my trash schedule change for MLK Day or Presidents' Day?
No. Although Anne Arundel County administrative facilities are closed on several holidays like MLK Day, Presidents' Day, and Juneteenth, your normal curbside collection in Parole will occur on schedule without any shifts.
Why are there different trucks coming at different times for my waste?
To ensure proper processing and high recycling diversion rates, the county dispatches separate trucks for standard household trash, single-stream recyclables, and yard waste. It is entirely normal for one material to be picked up hours before another, so leave all items out until collected.
