!Contamination Tips

Keep Pizza Boxes Out

Used pizza boxes are strictly prohibited from the Davison Township recycling stream. The grease and melted cheese ruin paper fibers during the pulping process, potentially contaminating the entire batch of recycled cardboard.

Cut Down Cardboard

Do not simply toss giant, unflattened boxes into your bin. Emterra requires all cardboard to be broken down and cut into pieces no larger than 24 by 24 inches to ensure they fit properly into the automated collection trucks.

Proper Paint Disposal

Liquid paint is hazardous and will not be collected. However, you can dispose of latex paint in the regular trash if you completely dry it out first by mixing in kitty litter or sand. Place the can at the curb with the lid off to show it is fully solidified.

Seasonal Information

Spring

April

The dedicated yard waste collection season officially begins on the first Tuesday in April. Stop by the Supervisor's Office on Irish Road to grab your free 'Yard Waste' container stickers before the season starts.

Autumn

October - November

Fall leaf cleanup must be completed before the final yard waste pickup, which occurs on the last Tuesday in November. Ensure all branches are bundled tightly and cut under 4 feet.

Winter

December - March

Yard waste services are suspended for the winter. During snow events, ensure your trash bags and cans are accessible to Emterra crews and not buried inside snowbanks.

About Davison Township Waste Management

Emterra Environmental Partnership in Davison Township

Davison Township has contracted with Emterra Environmental USA to provide comprehensive waste management services for residents. Regular trash is collected weekly on Tuesdays, while single-stream recycling is collected every other Tuesday. Because three distinct trucks are dispatched for refuse, recycling, and yard waste, residents should be patient if one material is picked up earlier in the day than another. All items must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. to guarantee collection.

Strict Bagging and Cart Weight Limits

To protect sanitation workers from injury and neighborhood streets from wind-blown litter, Davison Township enforces strict curbside rules. All household trash must be securely bagged before being placed inside garbage cans. Furthermore, each filled container must not exceed fifty (50) pounds in total weight. Residents are limited to a maximum of 10 bags per week, and items can only be placed at the curb for a maximum of 48 hours.

Free Monthly Resident Dump Permits

In a highly unique and beneficial program, Davison Township provides its residents with a free monthly dump permit to handle excess waste. This permit can be easily obtained in person at the Supervisor's Office inside the Davison Township Municipality Building located on Irish Road. This is an excellent alternative for households undertaking minor cleanouts that exceed the 10-bag weekly curbside limit.

Recycling Rewards and Container Sizing

Davison Township strongly encourages sustainability through the Emterra Rewards program, which offers local business savings to residents who actively recycle. Standard recycling bins can be delivered to your home by calling the local dispatch at (810) 653-2325. For households producing higher volumes of recyclables, larger recycling containers can also be purchased directly online through the Emterra Rewards portal.

Navigating Seasonal Yard Waste Disposal

Properly managing organic debris is essential for maintaining Genesee County's waterways. Davison Township provides dedicated curbside yard waste pickup starting the first Tuesday in April and running continuously through the last Tuesday in November. Residents must use biodegradable brown kraft paper bags or a personal container visibly marked with a 'YARD WASTE' sticker, which is available for free at the Township Supervisor's Office.
