Keep Plastics to 1 Gallon or Less
Middlesex County specifically limits recyclable plastic containers to those that are one gallon or smaller (such as standard milk jugs or laundry detergent bottles). Oversized plastic items, like storage totes, kiddie pools, or large buckets, will contaminate the load and must be thrown in the trash.
Never Bag Your Recyclables
Plastic grocery bags and garbage bags wrap around the sorting gears at the recycling plant, causing severe equipment damage. Keep all of your single-stream recyclables completely loose inside your ASL cart.
