Tear Off Hardcovers
Hardcover books cannot be thrown directly into your paper recycling. You must manually rip off the rigid covers and throw them in the trash before recycling the interior paper pages.
Trash All Styrofoam and Ceramics
Expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) egg cartons, takeout trays, and packing peanuts are not accepted in Montgomery's recycling. Broken ceramics, mirrors, and drinking glasses also belong in the regular garbage.
Keep Paint Dry
While dried, water-based (latex) paint can be placed out with your regular trash, you must leave the lid off until it is rock solid. Do not wash out the cans into the storm drains or leave wet paint at the curb.
