Gray-Top Cart (Provided by Township) Bin (Trash)
All trash MUST be bagged before placing it inside the cart to prevent littering during the automated dumping process. Place the cart on a level area within 5 feet of the street by midnight the night before collection. Lids must close completely.

Small bag stickers are $1.25. Large items (furniture/mattresses) require an $11.00 sticker. Appliances without Freon require a $12.00 sticker. Stickers do not expire and are non-refundable.
Holiday Schedule
General Rule
If a collection day falls on or after a weekday holiday, pick up will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week. If a holiday occurs before your collection day or falls on a weekend, your schedule will not change.
Yard Waste Exception
Yard waste collection follows the exact same holiday delay schedule as the standard trash and recycling routes.
Holidays falling on Saturday or Sunday do not disrupt the Monday through Friday collection schedule in Cranberry.

Uncap and Discard Lids
Before you recycle your plastic detergent bottles or glass sauce jars, remove the lids and caps. Toss all lids directly into your gray-top trash cart. The recycling facility sorting machinery cannot process these small, mixed-material caps.
Keep Recyclables Unbagged
While Cranberry requires all trash to be securely bagged, doing so in your recycling cart will send those items straight to the landfill. Keep all cans, paper, and glass completely loose in the recycling cart. Never bundle items in plastic grocery bags.
Ditch the Pizza Boxes
Even if the cardboard feels dry, the grease soaked into the bottom of a pizza box ruins the paper recycling process. Throw the greasy half of the pizza box in the trash. Only clean, unsoiled cardboard is accepted.
Seasonal Information
Winter
JanuaryCranberry Township sets aside the first two weeks of January for curbside Christmas tree pickup. Remove all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and tree stands. Trees must be cut into 4-foot sections and left bare; do not put them in plastic bags or inside the carts.
Spring through Fall
March - DecemberWeekly curbside yard waste collection is active from March to December. Ensure that no dirt, rocks, or household garbage accidentally mixes into your yard waste bundles.
Year-Round Weather
January - DecemberPlace your carts with the wheels facing away from the street, and keep them at least 5 feet away from mailboxes, parked cars, or snow banks to ensure the automated mechanical arm can safely grasp them.

The Prepaid Collection Sticker System for Extra Waste
Cranberry Township handles overflow garbage and bulky items using a convenient, pay-as-you-throw prepaid Collection Sticker system. If you have extra 32-gallon trash bags that will not fit into your designated cart, or if you need to dispose of a large sofa or appliance, you must purchase a specific sticker from Customer Service and attach it to the item before scheduling a pickup.
Handling the E-Commerce Cardboard Surge
With the rise of online shopping, standard recycling bins often overflow with boxes. Cranberry Township uniquely offers a commercial-strength cardboard compactor situated directly behind the Municipal Center. This free, self-service machine is strictly intended for Township residents to responsibly dispose of large volumes of corrugated cardboard carton waste that will not fit into their home carts.
The Resident Collection Rack Program
For residents hosting large parties or neighborhood cleanups, Cranberry Township offers a free Rack Program. Residents can borrow up to two sets of heavy-duty trash and recycling racks from the Public Works Facility for up to three days. While borrowing the racks is free, residents are responsible for purchasing the necessary extra bag stickers to dispose of the resulting trash at the curb.
