Holiday Schedule
General Rule
CWD modifies Colleyville's collection schedule only for Thanksgiving and Christmas. If the holiday falls on a Thursday, Thursday collections shift to Friday, and Friday collections shift to Saturday.
Yard Waste Exception
Bulk and brush pick-ups follow the same one-day delay as standard household garbage during these two major holidays.
Most standard federal holidays (such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day) do not interrupt your normal collection schedule.

Avoid Serving Ware
Do not put paper, plastic, or styrofoam serving items—such as paper plates, plastic cutlery, or takeout clam-shells—into the recycling cart. These items are heavily contaminated with food oils and cannot be processed.
Keep it Unbagged
Never bag your recyclables. Placing items in plastic grocery sacks causes severe mechanical jams at the CWD sorting facility. All approved paper, plastics, and metals should be dropped loosely into your cart.
Skip the Shredded Paper
While standard mixed paper and junk mail are highly encouraged, shredded paper is prohibited in the Colleyville recycling carts. The tiny pieces fall through the sorting belts and contaminate other material streams.

Carts and bags must be spaced at least three feet away from the CWD recycling cart and set out by 7:00 a.m. on collection days.
Convenient Bulk and Brush Capabilities
Colleyville's bulk disposal rules are incredibly generous compared to neighboring cities. Instead of waiting for a designated monthly bulk week, residents can place up to four cubic yards of bulky waste and loose brush at the curb on every single regular trash collection day. Additionally, if you have properly tied and bundled brush—meaning branches cut down, securely tied, and weighing under 50 pounds—you can place an unlimited amount out for pickup without incurring extra fees or requiring a special appointment.
Door-Side Household Hazardous Waste Service
As of late 2023, Colleyville transitioned its household hazardous waste (HHW) management entirely to CWD's doorstep program, ending access to the Fort Worth ECC. This makes disposing of dangerous materials remarkably easy. Residents can call CWD at (972) 392-9300 (Option 2) up to once a month to request a collection kit. After packing approved items—such as paint, auto batteries, used motor oil, and old televisions—the kit is simply left on the front porch for safe, responsible removal at no additional monthly cost.

Winter Seasonal Leaf and Tree Recycling
To manage heavy autumn foliage and keep organic matter out of landfills, Colleyville organizes a Seasonal Leaf Pick-Up program running from November through early January.
